Old Noarlunga bridge
Old Noarlunga is a beautiful little old town suburb with some gorgeous 1800s architecture in housing. this new bridge is all 21st century but still beautiful and does a great job of attracting people and tourists to the area. creating structures and trails ensures visitors do as little damage to the environment as possible. the old bridge was a wooden structure that was washed away in storms and to have it replaced with this very secure structure was a great effort from the community.
Volunteering with environmental organisations and studying the Bachelor of Environment degree peaked my interest in native plants and creating an indigenous food garden at my own property. It's a work in progress and very early days. Patience is needed when planting from seedlings, which tend to be more successful than buying ready established plants. It's lovely watching them grow from babies
My Portfolio.
I have been working on planting out a native vegetation garden for about two and a half years now since I built my house near the beautiful beaches of Port Noarlunga and Seaford.
I am also interested in indigenous plant species for food as well as habitat for species.
I recently travelled to the United States of America and marvelled at the beautiful city gardens of Chicago and the amazing roof gardens of New York with the quirky water towers on the tops of buildings.
Climate change is an emergency we must address as a society for our survival as well as the survival of all the amazing life on earth. There is no Planet B. We have to take care of this environment and ecosystems to survive. Agriculture and transport have huge effects on our atmosphere through emitting greenhouse gases that warm the atmosphere which is happening at alarming rates.
We can help in many ways, and the way I am trying to help is raising awareness as well as growing native plants and native food plants because the less your food travels, the better it is for the environment. I understand not everyone can do this but I just want to share what I am doing in my own backyard because that is my sanctuary and I marvel at watching things grow as well as seeing the species that visit the garden.

The beaches of South Australia, especially my local beach area, Port Noarlunga South and Moana are so beautiful and quite often you have the beach to yourself if you pick the right times and weather. Very friendly people in this neighbourhood and proud to protect the beaches from litter and cigarette buts with bins and informative signage. The cliffs are fragile and have lots of weeds growing on them, however, they do well to protect from severe erosion. It would be nice to see all native plants along the coast. One day perhaps.
